Workshop: Intro to 3D Design + Prototyping for the Film and Game Industry

In 2015, we conducted a 3-day workshop in Gisborne, New Zealand. Gisborne locals welcomed us with open arms and really threw themselves wholeheartedly into their learning!

Below is our workshop schedule and content outline.

This 3-day Visual Effects workshop is designed for professionals and rising university students interested in 3D film and game development. Over the course of this workshop, you will be equipped as creative-industry working professionals who have 3D visual effects production knowledge and the ability to apply it to your upcoming projects and creative business ventures.

In a fun and collaborative studio-led environment, you learn to create production-quality 3D visualization stills and videos for the entertainment, industrial design, media arts, visual effects photography and fashion industries.

This workshop is supervised and taught by Professor Gabriel Teo, whose extensive years of experience in global media production and creative education has provided him with invaluable insight into current and forthcoming production techniques.

Participants do not need to have prior experience or knowledge about 3D Visual Effects. The event is designed for those who love games, watching cool films, and for those who enjoy making music and get-together in an artist-led studio space.

Workshop Venue: Activate Tairawhiti Offices, 1st Floor, 46 Childers Road, Gisborne

TESTIMONIALS

I found the workshop worked extremely well; the teaching style allowed us to work and experiment in a safe environment at our own pace, giving us the time to work it out for ourselves and understand the program fully.

Great presentation summary Gabriel posted. Jack really enjoyed his time, I thought it would be a stretch for him but by all accounts he held his own with the adults. A great learning experience for him. I am sure Gisborne folk would like to hear a lot about you. Be great to see your team again, and I am sure Jack will be queueing up!

I got a lot out of my time with you guys.
Took me back to my time at AUT where I learnt how to think non-creatively. Sounds weird but when you are already creative it helps you action your design work.
Listening to Gabe was insightful. Just watching him navigate the ZBrush and Keyshot environments was extremely helpful. I had never used that software before. Just getting the confidence to explore them was enough to show me how it could be possible to apply this in my business.
